...But They Told Me You Were Dead!
For decades, Brooke Mayo believed her daughter, born of rape and placed for adoption, was dead. Then a letter arrived.
Brooke's baby was born one morning in 1942 and she was cherub-cheeked, just like her mother.
In those days, when a baby was being placed for adoption, they were supposed to just whisk the child away, but fortunately for this first time mother, a kindly nurse bent the rules and brought her newborn daughter into her room for a few minutes.
Brooke named her Delphine. Now, seventy-one years later, they have found each other again!
